Ivanhoe by Walter Scott is a historical novel published in three volumes, in 1819, as one of the Waverley novels. Set in England in the Middle Ages, this novel marked a shift away from Scott’s prior practice of setting stories in Scotland and in the more recent past.
Set in 12th-century England, with colourful descriptions of a tournament, outlaws, a witch trial, and divisions between Jews and Christians, Normans and Saxons. Ivanhoe was also credited with influencing contemporary popular perceptions of historical figures such as Richard the Lionheart, King John, and Robin Hood.
The Ivanhoe Sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain. Toledo has a reputation for producing some of the finest swords in Europe and has been a centre of sword production for centuries. The antique brass hilt features a pommel with lion's head decoration and blue leather grip. The guard features a heraldic shield at its centre supported by Saxon dragon heads. The blunt stainless steel blade features heraldic decoration and is suitable for display only.
