KERSHAW EPISTLE 2131

POCKET KNIFE

The American company Kershaw has developed the Epistle, an EDC knife with an attractive minimalist design that is stylish and easy to carry. The Liner Lock mechanism reduces the overall weight and provides extra safety, making it suitable for everyday activities. The pointed blade is great when opening boxes. But you can also easily peel an apple with the Epistle. The handle is made from light-weight aluminium. Because of its size you might expect to have to compromise on the grip. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kershaw Epistle 2131 namely feels great in hand. It is the result of the royal finger groove and the bevelled edges.

Steel 8Cr13MoV

The developers at Kershaw have crafted the blade of this knife using 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. This type of alloy has very similar properties to Japanese AUS-8A steel, but with a higher carbon content. Additionally, thanks to its high levels of chromium, it is resistant to corrosion and can withstand extremely humid environments.

In turn, this alloy is similar to 14C28N steel in terms of composition, as it has equivalent edge retention and is easy to sharpen. It also has an excellent quality-to-price ratio.

Its specific composition is 0.70-0.80% carbon, less than 1% manganese, 13-14% chromium, 0.20% nickel, 0.10-0.20% vanadium, and 0.10-0.20% molybdenum. It has a typical hardness of 57-58 HRC.

Liner Lock Mechanism

This model incorporates a Liner Lock system to ensure extra safety. This mechanism is formed by a vertical metal plate that makes contact with the blade tang when the knife is opened. This pressure prevents the blade from moving.

This technology is one of the most commonly used and reliable in the world of knives. Therefore, the user can use the knife with complete confidence and the assurance that there will be no accidental closures during use.

Drop Point Blade Style

The Epistle knife features a Drop Point blade profile, which is one of the most versatile styles. The blade shape is versatile and practical, as the spine allows for long cuts and the lower tip provides good control on work.

In turn, it includes a great straight edge that, along with tip control, allows the user to make deep and clean incisions and impact cuts without structural weakening.

Anodized Aluminum Handle Scales

The American company Kershaw has designed the handle scales of the Epistle knife using anodized aluminum. This material effectively responds to hostile environments with high relative humidity or extreme salinity. Additionally, it highlights the hardness and resistance to multidirectional impacts.

In turn, the elegant handle scales have a groove to place your fingers, obtaining greater comfort and control in cuts. It also includes a fixed single-position pocket clip
