The Brisa Nessmuk knife has been developed to inherit the characteristics of the original George Washington Sears blade, albeit with a more modern look.
The first thing you notice is the wavy blade and the fact that the knife is wider at the tip. This classic shape is what we call a Nessmuk style blade. This type of knife is mainly used to gut game and prepare food. That is why Nessmuk style blade knives are very popular with hunters or people who like to go camping or hiking. Since the blade is wider at the tip, the blade is not only sturdier, but you can also use this wide tip as a makeshift spoon.
The knife is a super tool for carving, chopping wood or slicing tomatoes. The 80CrV2 carbon steel really adds a lot of potential to the Nessmuk.
This one piece knife has a full-tang construction. This means that the steel of the blade runs all the way around the handle and follows the shape of the handle. The result is the strongest construction you can have with a fixed knife. The Nessmuk has a 80CrV2 steel blade. A type of robust carbon steel often used in the Finnish knife industry.
The handle is made of canvas micarta. A composite material that is made up of linen and synthetic resin. Textile fibers expand when wet. This way you have even more grip on the knife. It is very easy to use and does not require any maintenance. Red coatings give the knife a luxurious look and feel. Liners also have a practical function; the action between the handle material and the blade is limited.
